Tableaux was originally set up to assist sculptors in the realisation of their work using various materials from bronze to fibreglass resin. Although this remains our main activity we have in recent years become involved in the design and modelling of historical life-size figures for museum exhibition. We only employ fine artists and carry out all design work and research ourselves. Both members of the partnership are practising fine artists with a long standing mutual interest in British social and military history. Accordingly, our life size figures are designed to fit the period, context and type of character. We can undertake all provisional artwork and historical research. Each figure is unique, and created specifically for a particular museum.
Our figures are sculpted using a mixture of modelling and life casting techniques, they are hand painted with high quality prosthetic glass eyes. Most of our work is designed to be displayed outside of glass cabinets wearing reproduction uniform or costume which are manufactured in-house, control of quality and authenticity being of primary importance to us.
